SPRING INTO ACTION!
Spring is Here!
Time to Get Moving!!!
Spring is finally here, and with it comes longer days, warmer temperatures, and the perfect opportunity to get outside and get moving! Regular physical activity is one of the best things you can do for your health—it boosts energy, improves heart health, strengthens muscles and bones, reduces stress, and even improves sleep.
The best part? You don’t need a gym membership to stay active! NYC offers endless ways to move your body, breathe in the fresh air, and make the most of the beautiful spring weather.

Why Movement Matters
Staying active doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be consistent. Even simple lifestyle changes can make a big impact on your health. Here’s why movement is essential:
✔️ Boosts Mood & Reduces Stress – Exercise releases endorphins, which help improve mood and reduce anxiety.
✔️ Supports Heart & Brain Health – Movement improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and enhances cognitive function.
✔️ Strengthens Bones & Muscles – Staying active keeps your body strong, preventing injuries and chronic pain.
✔️ Enhances Sleep Quality – Regular exercise helps regulate sleep patterns, leading to deeper and more restful sleep.

Ways to Get Active and Enjoy Spring in NYC
1. Join a Running or Walking Group
Running and walking are some of the simplest yet most effective forms of exercise. If you’re looking for extra motivation, joining a group can help you stay committed and make exercise more fun!

👟 Set a Daily Steps Goal – Challenge yourself to hit at least 10,000 steps a day! Walk to work, take the stairs, or explore a new neighborhood.
2. Make Your Commute More Active
Think of it as adding exercise to your daily routine without changing your schedule.
🚶 Skip the Train and Walk – If your destination is within 1-2 stops, try walking instead of taking the subway.
⏳ Take the Stairs – Skip the elevator whenever possible to get your heart rate up. You can set a goal right from the Health app on your phone to track your daily steps.

🧴 Wear Sunscreen – Protect your skin from UV rays, even on cloudy days. SPF 30+ is best for daily use.
😴 Prioritize Recovery – Rest days are just as important as workout days. Get enough sleep and listen to your body.
